Sov changes, will it make any difference?

So we have news of the new patch coming out some time in the next 2-3 months. The much vaunted sov changes.

Now all of this is mere speculation because as usual nobody that has real information can or will talk and those with no information, like myself, have nothing solid to talk about.

I know some of the CSM read this, or did that last time I wrote something. I have a question to them that whilst they may not be able to answer in here, they may be able to ask CCP and it may, unlikely I know, have some effect.

Without going into full on details, imagine a claimed “0.0” alliance, lets call them… Sylph. Its a good a name as any, we could call them CVA, pets. The kind of alliance that hold space nowadays thanks to game mechanics over actual ability to defend/pvp etc. Although to be fair to CVA they can pvp! Anyway!

Sylph, or whoever. Claim space that they simply would not be able to if it were not for GTCs, too much money too little sense etc etc. They cannot defend it, I can prove this by linking to my own killboard or that of any freedom fighter down that way. I was also in Sylph, I left because they are that bad. So they claim space, easily done, drop a few towers, see if anyone comes to tell them off. A little while later they do the whole “lets drop and outpost quick” thing and before you know it they and there ilk have a dozen OPs with an average of 1 player in system for a week. They no longer have to call on others to help them defend it whilst dropping because game mechanics mean we have to field Dreads, Carriers, BS, Titans etc etc and hang around, then come back again another day and do it all over again due to some stupid strontium idea some dick from CCP decided to give us a few years back.

Now from what I have read, again, mere speculation. POS will be taken out of the equation and “people in space” will enter into it. How does that work? Will this mean that those with sov 4 and a multitude of OPs will lose the rights to keep the OP there? Or, and this is what I am inclined to believe, if the OP is there, nothing changes bar they no longer have to fuel the POS that gave them the sov in the first place?

This isn’t a whine BTW. I have done the whole claiming thing and it is a fucking bore. I am now doing the whole “take there sov away” thing and right now, that too is a fucking bore. I want less bore ‘n’ chore and more fun. I want them to have to defend what they did and if they can’t, which trust me, those guys cannot, they lose it.

So, ramble over. Question was in clear and concise text.

If they already have an OP with Sov 4, will these changes mean we can take it away easier? Will this mean they HAVE to defend?

If the answer is no, then keep your changes because they are worthless. Nobody in EVE cares about future claims, we care about present ones. Fact!
